There is a requirement for Slide Bearings in high-temperature environments under flare stacks, which is why, for these applications, Fluorocarbon has a range of Slide Bearings utilising graphite as the sliding face.
The flare system is designed to collect and safely dispose of a wide range of fluids at various conditions during normal or upset operations of processing plants.
These relief fluids are typically flammable and, in some cases, corrosive and/or toxic.
Combining wet sources with LT sources must be evaluated carefully during design, as there is a chance of freezing or ice formation within the flare header.
Specific bearing assemblies are available for flare stack installation when high service temperatures are anticipated.
We produce Fluoroglide® Structural Bearings in a range of configurations using either virgin or glass-filled Fluorinoid® PTFE as the bearing material. Each bearing is designed specifically to suit the specific application.
Typical configurations
The Fluoroglide® Flare Stack Bearings comprise of a polished stainless steel top plate sliding against a graphite recessed bearing.
Graphite bearings are used in a temperature range between 200ºC to 1000ºC and have a maximum bearing pressure of 25kg/cm² and a coefficient of friction of 0.15-0.30.
Graphite/Nickel thermal spray finish is available up to 480°C usage.
