Fluoroglide® PTFE Skidway Plates

Based on the proven PTFE slide-bearing technology, Fluorocarbon have acquired a worldwide reputation for the design and manufacture of bonded PTFE/metallic Fluoroglide® Skidway Plates. 

Construction yards all over the world utilise Fluoroglide® Skidway Plates to help with the skidding of heavy structures, modules, and oil jackets.

Fluoroglide® Skidway Plates can be installed on all types of transportation barges easily.

During load out of heavy structures, friction can be further reduced when used in conjunction with our specially formulated liquid silicone system FL414. 

FL414 lubrication system is stable with no changes to viscosity caused by environmental temperature fluctuations, turbulent wind and sea water exposure.

  • The total load of the structure - this will indicate the total slide-bearing area required at a suitable bearing pressure and temperature.
  • The number and positions of the slide bearings according to the rigidity and function of the structure.
  • The operating environment and specification of steel grades for the backing plates.
  • Any unusual conditions affecting the slide bearings, such as the need for additional thermal insulation, vibration pads and deflection of the slide bearing surface.
  • The most appropriate method of mounting the skidway plates.
  • The types of skidway plates required and specification of their dimensions.
